The start of a new year is traditionally time for earnest resolutions, renewed effort and a drive to try different things. That’s how it’s been for us at Pickle Jar, and we’ve had a busy January covering things new, old, and diverse…

Imperial College London

Success Guide

Last year we worked with Imperial College London to help create the Imperial Success Guide. This online resource is designed to provide academic support and advice to help students transition from school to university, and we’ve just finished helping Imperial to create a series of videos to convey the message of the guide to their students.

Instagram research

One of our big projects in January has been to carry out research into how young people use Instagram. After surveying, interviewing and observing users of the service, we’ve gathered some interesting insights. We’ll be sharing these in the next few weeks, so keep an eye out for the results…

Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute

The Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute is in the process of creating a new website to help showcase the important work they do that makes a difference to human health and our understanding of genomics. Working with our partners NewCity – who are developing the new website – we are in the midst of developing the content strategy and guidance for the site.

Facebook Page for Open University International Students

Open University International page

We’ve now handed the reins of the OU’s new International Community Facebook page back to the University. After a few months managing the content planning and content creation of this page, it is well on its way to reaching 10,000 fans from all over the world. It’s always a pleasure not just to develop a strategy but to really help a client get their implementation of that strategy underway and then help them take it from there.

Other projects

It really has been a busy month – as well as the projects above, we’ve also been carrying out work for the University for the Creative Arts, the Association of Heads of Universities (AHUA), the University of Southampton and Nord Anglia Education. We’ll have more on these pieces of work in our February roundup – check back in a month!

Content Strategy Workshop

You might have noticed that we’re holding a Content Strategy Workshop later this month – if you want to learn how to create engaging digital content to attract your target audience, this could be for you. Sign up and join us!

We’ll be holding more workshops throughout the year on a range of topics – so if there’s something you want us to cover, just let us know.

Pickle Jar blog

As part of our Content-tastic 2015, our blogging in January was focused on audience research. Among other things, we looked at different research methods, how to create personas, and using the YouGov Profiler tool to help your research.

In February we’ll be looking at content strategy, but if there’s anything else you want to hear from us on, please get in touch.
