Award Success for the Imperial Success Guide

Here at Pickle Jar Communications, we love being involved in communications projects that make a real difference for our clients and their audiences.

So we were really pleased this week to hear that Imperial College London has won a CASE Circle of Excellence Award for a project that was developed with us at Pickle Jar – the Imperial Success Guide.

The project received a Gold Award in the Branding Programs category for the fantastic artwork and merchandise that was developed to promote the Success Guide, including eye-masks, wristbands, t-shirts, wall planners, posters, and adverts.

The Success Guide was a huge cross-College, collaborative project at Imperial, bringing together academics, course tutors, administrators and us at Pickle Jar to provide resources and information that would be helpful to new undergraduate students transitioning to Imperial from school or college.

Rather than a traditional printed study guide, we developed articles, content and videos (with the help of our friends at Superkrush) to help students excel at Imperial.

Informed by surveys and interviews with prospective students, we found out what they were worried about or needed support with and then developed articles with top tips, advice on learning styles, guides to library services, information about revision and exams, and advice on health, wellbeing, nutrition and sleep to help them prepare to succeed.

“Genius advice” from the Success Guide

CASE judges said: “The judges all favored this entry. The entry exhibited an excellent approach to meeting a challenge at most every university – helping new students adjust and be successful. The entry had well-thought objectives and rationale. The research effort was strong. The judges very much admired the execution of the program – it took a long-standing problem and provided a creative solution. The individual pieces of the campaign were fun and creative – from the student calendars to the sleep masks encouraging students to get their sleep. Creating an XXLarge sleep mask for the large stone lions, and passing out stuffed animals – were an added plus. All in all – a creative use of social media, collateral, signage and giveaways to advance an important initiative.”
